Guilds of Sunderland
From arcane scholars to silent thieves, these guilds have shaped the world’s culture, knowledge, and conflicts. Each leaves a distinct mark upon the lands they serve—or steal from.

The Arcanum
Founded: 655 AC by the Elfron, Fayas
Purpose: To teach and research magic, aiding those—especially humans—who once struggled to control it.
Status: Widely accepted in the Southern Kingdoms by 660 AC. Later absorbed into the Southern Empire.

The Warriors
Founded: 655 AC by the Pelgad fighter, Colmen Reed
Purpose: To train fighters and unite mercenaries under a code, transforming lone blades into reliable defenders.
Status: Accepted across the Southern Kingdoms by 662 AC. Later regulated by the Southern Empire.

Brotherhood of Thieves
First Mentioned: 724 AC
Location: Based in Valara
Purpose: Infamous for high-profile heists. Operates in shadows, respected and feared across underworld networks.
Made their name after stealing a red diamond from Valara’s royal princess.

Alchemy Guild
Founded: 790 AC
Purpose: Focused on healing, transmutation, and material manipulation. Key contributors to modern magical science.
Status: Later brought under the Southern Empire’s official patronage.

Merchant Guild
Founded: 790 AC
Purpose: Established to standardize trade, ensure fair pricing, and foster economic networks across Sunderland.
Status: Later absorbed into the Southern Empire’s infrastructure.

The Eagles
Founded: Unknown, but first encountered in 840 AC during the Great Southern War
Purpose: A covert assassin group first surfaced in 840 AC after the Prince of Tarvek's murder—an act the Acthaelion king openly claimed. The Eagles gained infamy during the Great Southern War and have since operated from the shadows. Despite the Southern Empire’s efforts to hunt them after 1000 AC, they remain elusive and rarely seen.
Status: Still active in the shadows. They are considered enemies of the Empire and are hunted if discovered, though their movements remain exceptionally discreet.
