Timeline of Sunderland
Journey through the ages of Sunderland, from creation to current times — drawn from Grand Maester Pompious Nataro's records.

Creation Age
Dawn Age
The world was dark, chaotic, and a void; only the sun god Sar existed in the heavens. Sar was attacked by a void demon in heaven. The Two Fought, Sar defeated the demon and cast its body to the ground.
Sar discovered the world beneath him, a chaotic mix of matter, water, and fire. Sar assembled the broken lands into a single continent and named it Sunderland, meaning 'The One Where Fall'.
Sar shaped the land, forests, fire, and weather. Sar formed the great mountains of the North. Sar placed the ever-far-reaching greens of the Eastern Kingdoms. Sar carved the great rocky plains of the South.
Mythic Era
1500 BCMythic Era begins. Sar forgot his home in heaven and spent his time on Sunderland. One day Sar traveled to the south seas and encountered a being made of water. He try to talk to her but she did not listen. Sar waited for 200 years for her to return, she did one day.
UnknownThe water being wrote 'Sea' on the sands. The Sea being, named Sarg ('the Sun Sea'), showed Sar the 'other seas' where they attacked him before laying down their weapons. Sar and Sarg's love birthed four children: Congalion (the first dragon), Ethlien (the first elf), Thaleion (the first man), and Kur (the first Kenis).
UnknownThese children were given lands: Men (Thaleion) in the North, Kenis (Kur) in the West, Elves (Ethlien) and Dragons (Congalion) in the East, and the South remained with the Seas (Miuras). Thaleion made Theia, the first woman, from part of Sar's body to help him make the North a home beneath Mount Omon, called Firsthold.
1100 BCEthlien and Congalion rode to meet Theia when she was created; Kur was also there, staying for 20 years.
1150 BCCongalion and Ethlien were given the East together as their land.
1000 BCSarg visited Thaleion and Theia. They were carried to Sar's House by a horse named Nirg. At Sar's House, Congalion, Ethlien, and Kur were present. Sar gifted each child a part of him and Sarg combined, called LIFE, enabling them to make their own children.
Unknown (after 1000 BC)Ethlien created the two elves, Eradir and Arimi. Congalion made the two dragons, Archbor and Boldread. Thaleion and Theia returned to the North and had four children: Tarvek, Acthaleion, Pelgad (three boys), and Sarath (a daughter).
700 BCHumanity in the North split into four clans and territories based on the descendants of Thaleion and Theia's children: Tarveks (near Omon mountain), Acthaleions (southern North), Pelgads (western North), Saraths (eastern North).
200 BCThe Mystic came from the sky, brought Sar the gift of Arcane, and taught the races how to use it. Elves and dragons were the first to learn the secrets of magic.
100 BCAn elf named Findal was taken and tortured by the Miuras for magic secrets. Ethlien and Congalion attacked the Miuras' island of Arbor in retaliation. Congalion died fighting Turtun. Sar saved Ethlien. Ethlien, in her fury after Congalion's death, tried to strike Sar and Sarg but was stopped by The Mystic and sent to the South to live alone.
1 BC (Before Collapse)The void demon returned and struck down Sar. Kur (the first Kenis) died in the battle as the demon's first victim. The demon corrupted some Kenis into Orcs and some humans into Valks using dark magic by the Miuras.
1 BCThe demon was defeated by Sarg and the children, with help from The Mystic. Sar and The Mystic died. Magic was released into the world upon The Mystic's death.
1 BCSarg became furious and tried to end the sea people (Miuras) for not helping, but the children calmed her. Sarg moved the Miuras' land of Arbor as far south from Sunderland as she could and became part of the sea again (now called the Sunsea).
1 BCThe remaining three Kenis were given more LIFE by Sarg before she became the Sunsea, and they made two more wind people. Elves and dragons fought on Sar's side in the Battle of Void.
1 BCElves prevented humans from killing Valks after the battle. The Council of Children convened; the Kenis introduced new calendars, marking the turning point to 1 AC. The oath of unity was taken by Humans, Elves, Dragons, and Kenis.
1 BCHumans returned to the North, dragons and elves to the East, and Kenis to the West. The South belonged to the Valks. Miuras were separated from Sunderland. The line of unity, 'Saytho Samin Nizath Nurloth' ('May Your Road Lead You To Victory and Safety'), was spoken at the council.

The First Age
Year 1 AC - 1000 ACNorth Sunderland
1 ACThe First Age began in the North with mourning. The four clans (Tarvek, Pelgad, Sarath, Acthaelion) united, forming the Northern Kingdom. Solmen Turg was unanimously voted ruler by the four clan chiefs and pledged to serve the North in Firsthold. Firsthold became the capital of the Northern Kingdom, with Gordolon, Whitehelm, and Kreath as lesser cities.
1 ACAgriculture, fishing, woodcutting, hunting, smithing, and crafting flourished. Trade routes were established with the East.
50 ACSolmen Turg died after ruling for almost 35 years. His daughter, Saraya Turg, married to Gerder Forhast (an Acthaelion), became his successor and ruled side by side with her husband.
53 ACGiants were discovered for the first time by a herder in the northern mountains. Giants attacked Firsthold, leading to many lives lost, and the royalty fleeing to Gordolon. The city fell to the giants.
53 ACQueen Saraya sent messengers for help to the East, West, and South. A Kenis (one of the original three) arrived from the West. Elf mage Vikron and dragon Syrath came from the East. No help came from the South (Valks).
53 ACQueen Saraya's husband died fighting the giants. Firsthold was recaptured but temporarily abandoned. The remaining giants were compelled by a magic spell to rebuild the city during winter. Elf mage Vikron stayed to learn about giants. Queen Saraya settled in Gordolon for the winter.
54 ACFirsthold was rebuilt and completed. Queen Saraya forgave the giants and allowed them to settle in nearby caverns. Vikron, the Kenis, and Syrath returned home.
70 ACQueen Saraya died peacefully at age 40. Her 18-year-old son, Bormon Turg, became king. Bormon established the King's Council, composed of the four royal patriarchs from each clan. The Northern economy struggled due to Firsthold's seasonal movements. The capital was moved to Gordolon; giants were granted Firsthold as their new dwelling.
74 ACKing Bormon met Peach, a young woman from a small village.
75 ACPeach died from an arrow to her throat, shot accidentally by a hunter. Bormon had the man hanged and withdrew from rule, causing internal strife among the four council members.
80 ACBormon emerged from solitude, claiming Peach's ghost instructed him to build her a resting place. Construction began on 'The Elder Gardens,' an enormous monument larger than cities, filled with waterfalls, fountains, calligraphy, paintings, and thousands of peach trees.
80 ACThe gardens severely depleted the North's gold reserves despite contributions from elves, Kenis, and dragons. The economy broke, causing resentment from Pelgad and Acthaelion clans. Sarath people received special treatment due to Peach's lineage. A significant split occurred when Dragon King Raughbar initially refused to provide gold for the Elder Gardens; he eventually agreed on the condition that caverns wouldn't be mined for gold for five years.
89 ACBormon died as the Elder Gardens were completed and was buried there. With no direct heir, Halbran Zarth from the Acthaelion clan was chosen as the new ruler by the council and other races.
90 ACHalbran Zarth took the crown, ushering in an age of increased distrust among the clans. Halbran Zarth proved to be a good king, limiting the council's power and establishing new trade routes with the East and West, including with the Orcs.
95 ACZarth revitalized the North's economy with smart policies and new technologies like enhanced farming methods.
96 ACHalbran was killed by a Valk from the South, immediately sparking a revolt. The Sarath royal clan showed no visible resentment. Elves and dragons arrived to try and quell the rising tensions, but their efforts failed.
96 ACThe external conflict spiraled into an internal war when the Sarath carriage was massacred by the Acthaelion people, leading to open hostilities. This marked the beginning of the Northern War, with the Tarvek and Sarath clans fighting against the Pelgad and Acthaelion.
100 ACDragon King Raughbar died of old age. The North's collapse occurred due to the Northern War.
General & Southern Events
10 ACThe Kenis discovered the surviving Orcs hidden in the Tharsar Desert and tried to reason with them.
300 ACHumanity successfully settled in the South and established it as a new home.
301 ACHumans began arriving in the East for trade, initiating the mixing of races with elves and dragons.
400 ACA new subspecies, the Elfrons (magic-wielding abilities of elves + physical strength of humans), came into being. They could not bond with dragons.
405 ACThe Dark Read occurred: A ship from the Sunsea landed on the coast of the human city of Valara. Four Miuras met with the Elf King, Dragon Queen, Human King, Valk Leader, Orcs' Chief, and Kenis King Fuhan.
560 ACIn the East, the High Trust attempted to spread, but the dragons became increasingly jaded. As elves gradually faded in prominence and Elfrons continued to grow, the dragons found themselves unable to trust the Elfrons. So, the War of the East began, in which dragons under Dragon King Morthan launched an attack against the elves and Elfrons. Humanity helped the elves, and the Kenis, though only numbering around 200, tried to negotiate with the dragons but failed, losing 30 of their own in the attempt. This conflict culminated in the fall of Amanor and the burning of the Yagras Tree. Elves and Elfrons fled south with the humans and settled there. The dragons then created the Seven Fires around the eastern borders and withdrew from further involvement.
600 ACAll conflicts concluded. The North was gone. The West was divided into two parts (Orcs and Kenis). The East was under dragon control. Elves had almost completely faded; Elfrons were established in the South across the four kingdoms (Tarvek, Sarath, Pelgad, Acthaelion).
600 ACValks had almost dwindled in number, living mostly near the coastal areas of the southern kingdoms.
604 ACThe First Treaty of Valara was signed, officially giving rise to the name 'Southern Kingdoms'.
780 ACA royal wedding between the prince of Tarvek and the princess of Sarath took place. The Acthaelion kingdom perceived this as a threat and conspicuously did not attend the wedding.
790 ACUniversities, the Alchemy Guild, and the Merchant Guild were established. The annual Eve Star Celebration Festival began.
840 ACThe Great Southern War began when the Prince of Tarvek was killed by an assassin (first mention of The Eagles assassin group). The assassin confessed the Acthaelion king masterminded the plot, leading to war.
845 ACThe war concluded in the year 845 AC with the Battle of Krag in central South Sunderland. In this decisive battle, the Tarvek and Acthaelion armies clashed. Acthaelion would have undoubtedly won had it not been for the warrior Lis Melborn, who tragically died protecting the King of Tarvek. When the war was finally over, the Yagway Dynasty rose to power in the South.
846 ACAll existing guilds, including The Arcanum and The Warriors, were brought under the direct control of the new empire. New laws and regulations were introduced, and a persistent hunt for members of The Eagles assassin group began, though it proved to be a difficult task.
1000 ACThe Southern Empire was fully formed, with established guilds and a stable economy. The four nations were united under one rule, each with a 'guardian' loyal to the king. Valks maintained their presence on the west coastline, while Elfrons were now spread throughout all four kingdoms.
1000 ACCommunications were attempted with the dragons in the East, but they did not reply. The West also fell under the empire's influence, governed by the remaining 200 Kenis, who regulated the economy alongside the Orcs, who had now settled into a more normalized existence. Technology improved, and new ideas emerged.
